Here's why Vietnam is Building an LNG Market:

According to estimates by the World Bank, demand for electricity has been growing rapidly at a compound annual rate of 13% since 2000. With a robust economy, this high growth is expected to continue to push electricity demand even higher. The current electricity generation relying on coal and hydropower is unable to keep up with demand leading to a supply crunch largely expected by 2021. The government is moving their focus to importing LNG to solve this shortage. 

Vietnam Gas Plan

Under the Vietnam gas Plan, LNG volumes shall be imported and distributed in quantities of 1 - 4 billion m3 per year from 2021 and increased to 6 - 10 billion by 2026. This is in line with the expected LNG supply from 2021 after the completion of the Thi Vai LNG Terminal.

The most anticipated LNG conference will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on 23 & 24 July 2019. This event will see the gathering of investors and key local stakeholders to network and discuss on key LNG development as the future of Vietnam’s LNG. Other features of the event will also see an LNG workshop on 22nd July 2019.
