Demand for LPG in Myanmar given huge boost with announcement to increase electricity tariff rate for households and businesses from 1 July 2019. Low consumption in LPG has always been attributed to the preference of using electricity to cook over LPG due to the subsidy while LPG has often been used as only a secondary source of energy for cooking. With the latest announcement to increase the tariff rate, LPG demand is expected to surge for both household and commercial consumption.
