India is now the world’s 2nd largest consumer of LPG for domestic cooking applications with annual volumes climbing up to nearly 25 million tonnes in 2018-19. LPG access in India has reached almost 80% of its population of around 1.2 billion. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), 80 million LPG connections will be provided to BPL families with a support of Rs.1600 per connection.  PMUY is likely to result in an additional employment of around 1 Lakh and provide Immerse business opportunity for the LPG industry in India.

Autogas Market in India

Driven partly by the growth in the popularity of the autogas powered three-wheeled rickshaws, auotgas has been growing steadily in India since 2014. According to figures by Indian Auto LPG Coalition, the autogas market in India currently stands at 450,000 Metric tonnes per annum in 2017. Currently, there are more than 1,100 autogas stations in India serving more than 2.5 million vehicles.
